Youth Running

The Hackney Schools' Challenge is a youth running initiative open to primary school children (aged 4-11 years old) of all abilities. The Hackney Schools’ Challenge encourages students to run 12 miles in the lead up to the event, by breaking it down into half a mile or mile distances at home or at school. Students then participate in the Hackney Moves weekend by running the final celebratory mile course which finishes on the Hackney Half finish line, completing their own Half Marathon.

Entries for the 2023 Schools' Challenge are now open. All information regarding the event, as well as entries are managed through participating Primary Schools within the London borough of Hackney and local area. TAKING PLACE ON SATURDAY

This will take place on Saturday, alongside the Hackney 5K, to create a family-focused day and enable parents and teachers to access the site without the challenge of Hackney Half road closures.

FREE ENTRY AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO FUNDRAISE FOR CHARITY

The 2023 event will be free to participate in, enabling more schools and students to participate.

We are proud to have Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children’s Charity as the Hackney Schools’ Challenge fundraising partner for 2023!

Every day, about 600 children and young people from across the UK arrive at GOSH for life-changing treatments. We encourage schools’ local communities, whilst you are getting your schools’ children fit and healthy, to donate and help support the lives of seriously ill children across the UK.
